SCOPE: Submissions must be landscape photographs (no people) taken of the Northwest
Territories within the past 2 years.
ELIGIBILITY: The CPF-NWT Photo Contest is open to any resident of the NWT, 18 years or
older. Only the photographer has the right to submit a photograph.
CPF-NWT: CPF-NWT is a network of volunteers who value French as an integral part of
Canada and who are dedicated to the promotion and creation of French-Second-
Language learning opportunities for young Canadians and their families in the
Northwest Territories.
HOW TO ENTER
Submit your digital photographs by email to cpf-nwt@northwestel.net from October 25, 2013 to November 21, 2013. All
landscape photographs taken by photographers aged 18 years or older, taken within the Northwest Territories (NWT) between
2011-13 are eligible to win. The contest closes at midnight on November 21, 2013.
GRAND PRIZE
The Grand Prize winner as determined by the CPF-NWT Panel of Judges will receive a customized trophy from Old Town
Glassworks and have their winning photograph featured on the Canadian Parents for French – NWT (CPF-NWT) website as
the new banner photo for CPF-NWT (www.nwt.cpf.ca).
OFFICIAL RULES
To enter, complete the entry form (attached) and submit it along with your photograph, by email, to: cpfnwt@
northwestel.net. There is no entry fee. Participants do not have to be a CPF-NWT member to enter.
1. Entries must be received by 11:59pm Mountain Standard Time on November 21, 2013.
2. Multiple photographs may be submitted by the same photographer. Each photograph must be accompanied by a
separate entry form. Entries are limited to 5 entries per person.
3. Entries must be colour digital photographs depicting a landscape found within the NWT. Digital files should be at
least a minimum width of 1700px, 120 DPI and 1MB in size.
4. By submitting a photo to this contest, the photographer agrees to give Canadian Parents for French – NWT Branch
the irrevocable right to use, edit, reproduce, publish and transmit the submitted photo and information provided
throughout the world in any media, website, publication, advertisement and marketing & promotional materials,
including print and electronic media without additional compensation. Photographer waives all moral rights in any
winning photos and photos that receive honourable mention.
5. It is the responsibility of the contestant to ensure that publication of the photographs by Canadian Parents for French
– NWT Branch raises no legal claims. The photographer must own all rights to any photographs entered in this
contest. In the event that ownership of, or rights to, any photo submitted to the contest is contested in any manner,
CPF-NWT retains the sole discretion to disqualify that photo from the contest and discontinue use of the photo
6. Photographs previously published in any print publication, in full or in part, will be disqualified.
7. The photo subject must be relevant to the photo contest’s theme (NWT landscapes). Photos must be appropriate for
posting on a public non-governmental-organization’s website. Photos that contain obscene, provocative, defamatory,
sexually explicit or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate content will not be considered. Canadian Parents for
French – NWT Branch will determine, in its sole discretion, what constitutes such content
8. You must obtain a consent or release from all identifiable people in your photo(s) for use of their image in your photo.
9. If you are a winner, you will be notified and, upon notification, you must respond within five (5) days of such
notification. If you don’t respond within that time, you will be disqualified and will not receive a prize and another
contestant may be selected. Before being awarded a prize, each winning photographer will be required to sign an
agreement declaring that: (a) the photograph submitted is his or her original work; (b) the photograph was taken at the
location specified on the entry form.
10. Prizes must be accepted as awarded and are not redeemable for cash.
11. Canadian Parents for French – NWT Branch is not responsible for computer system, hardware, software or program
malfunctions or other errors, failures, or delayed computer transactions or network connections that affect the contest
or your participation in it. Furthermore, Canadian Parents for French is not responsible for: 1) lost, misdirected,
misplaced, illegible, unintelligible, incomplete or late entries or 2) any act, failure to act, or delay regarding the
transmitting or processing of entries.
12. You acknowledge that Canadian Parents for French – NWT Branch reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel
or suspend all or any portion of this contest without notice for any reason whatsoever, without any liability to you for
any costs you may have incurred in respect to the contest.
13. Canadian Parents for French – NWT Branch is entitled to interpret these rules as required and its decisions are final.
14. This contest is subject to all applicable federal, territorial and municipal laws and regulations. These contest rules are
subject to change without notice in order to comply with any applicable federal, territorial and municipal laws or the
policy of any other entity having jurisdiction over the contest.

15. Canadian Parents for French – NWT Branch reserves the right to disqualify any contestant that it has reason to
believe does not comply with the contest rules. If after the awarding of the contest prizes a contest winner is
disqualified or determined to be ineligible, an alternate winner will be selected using the same judging process/criteria
described above. Alternate winners are subject to all requirements set forth in these rules.
16. By participating in the contest, you agree to hold harmless the Canadian Parents for French – NWT Branch and its
employees, agents and representatives from any and all damages, injuries, claims, causes of actions, or losses of any
kind resulting from your participation in this contest, including infringement of another person’s intellectual property
rights. You also release Canadian Parents for French – NWT Branch and its employees, agents and representatives
from any responsibility or liability for any damages, injuries, claims, causes of actions, or losses of any kind you may
incur or suffer arising in whole or in part from your participation in this contest.
ELIGIBILITY

JUDGING
Entries will be submitted to the Executive Director of CPF-NWT, and presented blind to a panel of judges comprised of the
CPF-NWT Board of Directors. The decisions of the judges are final. The photographer(s) of the three top photographs will be
notified by telephone or e-mail, and invited to attend a CPF-NWT celebration event being held on December 2, 2013. At this
event, the winning photograph and photographer will be announced.
By submitting the entry form (attached) the photographer consents to the entry of his or her submission and agrees to abide by
the contest rules.
Canadian Parents for French – NWT Branch supports local artists and respects Copyright laws. Photo credits will continue to
be used with all imagery Canadian Parents for French – NWT Branch reproduces where possible.
